Barclays

After two years in development, banking and financial services company Barclays opened their new World Headquarters at Canary Wharf, combining several divisions. This required the consolidation of 15 separate properties and relocation of approximately 6000 people – taking into account different office cultures, working methods and tastes.

"They helped us to deliver a consistent brand image and improved wayfinding, whilst ensuring the design solution was sympathetic with the architecture and interior design of the building. Their experience of working for Barclays since 1999, and their specialist expertise, were critical factors in delivering a successful project." Barclays Brand Team

Barclays relocation

Tasked with providing a wayfinding solution for the new building, we set out to create a package that would allow occupants to settle quickly into their new surroundings, work in sympathy with the building, and support Barclays’ brand.

Wayfinding expertise

Early integration into the project team (two years before completion) allowed us to provide on-going consultancy while the building project was evolving. This in-depth involvement and our wayfinding expertise not only meant that stringent UK regulations were met but made a significant contribution to Barclays on-going business. To deal with a very large area (4000 m2) and large numbers of employees, the wayfinding solution involved ‘routes’ – allowing areas to flow into each other. This helps users to move easily through the space without needing excessive control.

Seamless transition

With an established relationship with Barclays, we could integrate quickly with the client’s team and make a significant contribution to the transition to their new world headquarters. Getting the details right makes for a successful implementation.
